Nemi ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Nemi mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app.

We collect the following types of information:

• Account information: Your email address, used for authentication via a one-time passcode.
• Profile information: Display name, language proficiency level, learning goals, and app preferences you provide during onboarding.
• Learning data: Conversation history with AI characters, kana practice progress, mistake records, vocabulary entries, streak data, and session statistics.
• Device information: Basic device information necessary for app functionality, such as operating system version.

• To provide and personalize the learning experience, including adapting AI conversation difficulty to your proficiency level.
• To track your learning progress, streaks, and performance over time.
• To authenticate your account and maintain your session.
• To improve and develop new features for the app.

Your conversations with AI characters are processed through third-party AI services to generate responses. These conversations are stored in our database to allow you to resume conversations and review your learning progress. We do not use your conversation content to train AI models.

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which provides encrypted storage and row-level security policies. All data access is scoped to your authenticated account. We use industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information.

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:

• AI service providers: Conversation content is sent to AI providers to generate character responses.
• Infrastructure providers: We use third-party services for hosting and data storage.

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your account and associated data.
• Export your learning data.

Nemi is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy in the app. Your continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
